Fiber-Reinforced Lightweight Calcium Aluminate Cement-Based Concrete: Effect of Exposure to Elevated Temperatures

نویسندگان

چکیده

Calcium aluminate cements (CACs) are a group of rapid-hardening hydraulic binders with higher aluminum composition and lower ecological footprint compared to their ordinary Portland cement (CEM) counterparts. CACs commonly known have thermo-durability properties but previously been observed experience major strength loss over time when exposed thermal humidity conditions due the chemical conversion natural hydrated products. To address this, in this study, silica fume is added induce different hydration phase path suggested by previous studies utilized conjunction fiber-reinforced lightweight pumice produce concrete. closely evaluate performance produced samples CAC CEM, two types (CEM CAC) proportions crushed stone aggregate at temperatures between 200 1000 °C were tested. In context, sieve analysis, bulk density, flowability, compressive flexural strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity weight mixes determined. The results study point better mechanical aggregates (compared stone) high temperatures. As result, it found that perform than CEM elevated temperatures, showing suitability producing thermal-resistant CAC-based concretes.

Flow of Fiber-Reinforced Cement Slurries at Elevated Temperatures

Cement slurries are used for the construction of oil wells as deep as 30,000 ft (9,000 m). The severe performance requirements for such materials have prompted the search for appropriate fiber reinforcement to improve the slurry’s tensile strength, impact resistance, and fracture toughness, without decreasing its pumpability. A continuum theory for dilute suspensions of large-aspect-ratio parti...

The Hydration Products of a Refractory Calcium Aluminate Cement at Low Temperatures

Calcium aluminates (CA) are the most important hydraulically setting cements used for preparing refractory castables, because they develop high strength at very early ages after placements.  The anhydrous phases of this kind of cements are CA, CA2 and traces of C12A7 and alpha-alumina. The major hydraulic phase in all of the CA cements including ciment fondu...

The Hydration Products of a Refractory Calcium Aluminate Cement at Intermediate Temperatures

The major hydraulic phase in all the calcium aluminate cements including ciment fondue is CA (CaAl2O4). Once hydrated, it starts to form the hexagonal crystals of CAH10 and C2AH8 that depending on the time and temperature of hydration convert to the cubic crystals of C3AH6 and AH3. The nature, sequence, ...

Corrosion Resistance of Calcium Aluminate Cement Concrete Exposed to a Chloride Environment

The present study concerns a development of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) concrete to enhance the durability against an externally chemically aggressive environment, in particular, chloride-induced corrosion. To evaluate the inhibition effect and concrete properties, CAC was partially mixed with ordinary Portland cement (OPC), ranging from 5% to 15%, as a binder. As a result, it was found that...

Effect of Water-cement Ratio on Corrosion of Reinforced Concrete

Corrosion of reinforced concrete is one of the major problems in the construction industry causing premature deterioration of concrete structures well before their service life. This has placed incredible financial burden on many projects and also placed safety of users at risk. A research work was carried out to evaluate the effect of water cement ratio on corrosion of steel in reinforced conc...
